Five, maybe ten, minutes into this movie I already liked it better than the book.  Nothing against Maurice G. Dantec; maybe something was lost in translation, I don’t know.  The book, Babylon Babies, was boring for the most part.  A chore.  The movie, I liked it much better.

I’m no real fan of Vin Diesel.  I think the only other movie he has been in that I’ve watched and liked was Saving Private RyanBabylon A.D. ain’t that great, but it doesn’t really aim to be.  It’s an action movie, pure and simple.  Even when it tries to get mind-bendy, it’s silly fun.

I’m not the proper person to compare this to the Riddick movies.  I have never seen Pitch Black, and from the thirty minutes or so I saw of Chronicles of Riddick, I don’t care to see the rest of it.  So let me say up front Babylon is not better than those.  I’m just saying it rocks the bee’s knees in its own mind-on-cruise-control way.  Take the ride and don’t ask questions.
