The Body Snatchers by Jack Finney
For a long time I’ve been a fan of the original film The Invasion of the Body Snatchers. It wasn’t until a couple of years ago that I finally read Finney’s book. Although the book I read Mr. Finney had changed somewhat, minutely, for a 1970′s publication. I think it was to coincide with the remake with Donald Sutherland or something. Is he in the first remake, I’ve never seen it? Leonard Nimoy is in it, isn’t he? Anyway….
I recommend The Body Snatchers. A lot of my friends and other fans of the movie had never read it. It’s one that I think should not be missed. My edition comes from The Stephen King Library. It has a cool cover. I skipped most of Mr. King’s opening remarks, I read them later because I wanted to get to the story. Jack Finney was a fine writer, and I believe it stands the test of time. It’s a classic, no escaping it. And if you’re a paranoid person such as myself, it’s doubly disturbing.
